On your home big screen: ‘Down Periscope’ is a wonderful comedy

Looking on the big screen at your home today, give a salute to the seagoing comedy “Down Periscope.” Here’s a wonderfully entertaining film that isn’t great, but has its solid moments. “Down Periscope” is the story of a maverick U.S. Navy submarine officer who gets a chance to command his own sub – but it’s a World War II-era diesel boat in today’s nuclear fleet. Plus and expectedly, he gets a misfit crew selected by a commanding officer who hates his guts. “Down Periscope” can be watched any number of times because it’s just funny comedy at its heart.

You’ll have absolutely no trouble finding “Down Periscope” for your “big screen” at home, but don’t give up. It’s out there; just find it!
