Look close on the hill: That’s the Liberty Statue in Budapest and it overlooks the Danube river. Allison got this shot along the Danube while she was in Budapest in October 2017 during her semester of college study abroad. The statue was originally erected as propaganda by Communists to celebrate Russia's "liberation" of Hungary. Later, after the fall of communism and the Soviet bloc, the wording was changed to honor "those all who sacrificed their lives for the independence, freedom, and prosperity of Hungary." Originally erected in 1947, it was more than 40 years later that it was updated.
