Today’s movie suggestion: Honoring the fallen … Memorial Day ’17

Today’s movie suggestion is just a list – a list of my reviews of war films in honor of Memorial Day 2017. That’s today, by the way. Here are the links:

Overview of D-Day films | ‘Battle of the Bulge’
‘The Bedford Incident’ | ‘The Big Red One’
‘A Bridge Too Far’ | ‘Beachhead’ | ‘The Caine Mutiny’
‘Cross of Iron’ | ‘Down Periscope’ | ‘The Eagle Has Landed’
‘Enemy at the Gates’ | ‘Eye of the Needle’ | ‘Father Goose’
‘The Final Countdown’ | ‘Full Metal Jacket’
‘The Great Escape’
‘The Guns of Navarone’ | ‘The Hunt for Red October
‘Kelly’s Heroes’ | ‘Midway’ | ‘Operation Petticoat’
‘Tora! Tora! Tora!’ | ‘Under Siege’ | ‘Where Eagles Dare’

The films are mostly serious films about war, but there are a few with a comedy component. However, by putting them all together under the “war” heading wasn’t intended to make light of the concept of war or making any light on this most serious of holidays. I just enjoy war films and today’s a good day to highlight war in cinema. Click here to read the list of the battles in which the most Americans paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms today. I posted an image of the outstanding World War II film “Saving Private Ryan” but I haven’t reviewed it yet. Maybe I will …

So, I’m doing a daily recommendation of a movie … and they’re all movies that I’ve reviewed on this blog. Below is the link back to the original review.
