image A look back: A guardian lion at the Forbidden City

I took a number of photos of ubiquitous “guardian lions” during our visit to China in 2007. I got this one at the Forbidden City in Beijing. You can find these guardian lions at the entrances to buildings and residences across Asia. According to Wiki: In English and several Western languages, the guardian lions are often referred in a multitude of name such as: “Fu Dogs,” “Foo Dogs,” “Fu Lions,” “Fo Lions,” and “Lion Dogs.”
